of south florida

Our Mission

Project Beauty of South Florida, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, was established to bring awareness to the teen mental health crisis, to give teenagers confidence in their inner and outer beauty and to raise funds for teen mental health programs. Approximately 20 teenagers are selected each year to serve as Project Beauty Ambassadors. The teens are invited to a “fresh-faced”, makeup free, photo shoot where two professional South Florida photographers capture the teens feeling free and confident to be themselves without the trappings of what society or social media judges as beautiful. Our ambassadors also help raise funds and promote the Project Beauty message through social media mental health awareness campaigns.

Alison

Alison is a creative lifestyle photographer, who has specializes in high school senior and teen photography, personal branding, and family photography. She has been a photographer in South Florida for over 20 years, and she knows how important it is to document the everyday AND the special moments in our lives.

Heather

Heather is an artistic dance, teen, and family photographer, and has been a photographer in South Florida for over 20 years. She prides herself on having a style that is as versatile and authentic as every client she is honored to capture.

I created this short documentary for Project Beauty.

The focus is body image and how it can impact teenage mental health. A majority of adolescents struggle with appearance and body dissatisfaction, which can result in mental health disorders. I knew whatever the end result of the film was, it needed to be powerful enough to show my younger, insecure self that she was not alone in her struggles and to show her that support is available.

Our Gallery Exhibition and Event

Our annual fundraising gallery exhibition of the teens’ photographs helps raise funds for adolescent mental health services in our local area. This special event brings together hundreds of community members to focus on this critical issue and give financial support through our auction, raffles and ticket sales. This year, the Gallery Exhibition and Fundraiser will be held on February 2, 2024 at The Old Davie Schoolhouse from 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.

Donations and Sponsorships

This year, we are raising funds for the teen mental health programs and services of Sunserve Youth and 211 Teenspace.
